Cancer? is a short, choice-driven hospital experience that explores how policies and everyday decisions shape health, opportunity, and survival.

In this interactive story, you step into the lives of five different characters—each representing a real-world cancer policy issue. From a long-time smoker to an overworked parent, an immigrant facing healthcare barriers, a factory worker exposed to harmful environments, and a teenager at risk due to lifestyle influences, every character tells a different story shaped by policy and circumstance.

After entering the hospital, you meet a doctor who asks important questions about your life, habits, environment, and access to care. Each decision you make affects your Hope Score, which represents your health, support, and future outcomes. At the end of each consultation, your final result reveals the consequences of your choices.

The game highlights key cancer policy themes such as:

  • Tobacco prevention and health education

  • Environmental and workplace safety

  • Economic and social support systems

  • Healthcare access and equity

  • Youth prevention and early intervention

Cancer? is not about fast reflexes or complex mechanics.
It is about understanding how real-life policies affect real people—and how small decisions can lead to very different futures.

Created for the Hack4Hope Game Jam, this project focuses on storytelling, awareness, and emotional impact, showing that prevention, access to care, and supportive policies can save lives.
